Herb Teesdale It started a couple of years ago, and has grown into an insatiable addiction. One sunny afternoon, while wandering around Old Town Spring (in Spring, Texas), Herb wandered into a shop for woodcarvers - The Old Texas Woodcarvers Shop (Dallas and Donna Deege's place!!) and he never looked back!!! If you could carve in your sleep, Herb would have a knife in his hand, and instead of "sawing logs", he'd be flippin' chips!!! Signing up for carving classes with Dallas gave Herb the outlet and guided direction he needed to turn his wild and unusal sense of humor into carvings that leave you laughing out loud and wonder "where did that idea come from" - Cowboy Genie rising from campfire coffeepots, Turkey's in tennis shoes, Rats that Rule Cats, and a band of "Bustin Loose" characters that only a mother could love! Herb entered his first competition in Bellaire, Texas, in the fall of 2005 (~5 months after his first lessons / classes with with Dallas) which netted him not only his first blue ribbons (one for a wall mounted Bobcat on a limb, the other for a class project "Cody" (assisted by Ronnie Reed), but he also won "Best of Show" award with the Bobcat...so much for beng a novice carver, he suddenly found himself, after his very FIRST show, in the carving category as the "Big Boys" - let the games begin!!! Herb create Roughouts from his original carvings and teaches these pieces in his classes. Need
a unique, one of a kind gift for a loved one, friend or co-worker? How about
a hand carved Santa, a personalized rendering of your boss, or a couple of hound
dog caricatures? Herb specializes in animals of many types and styles -
domestic to African wildlife - realistic to caricatures. He also has a knack
for taking an idea and transforming it into something exclusive and truly attention
grabbing. Please
visit the other pages of this website for photos highlighting some of Herbs work,
Awards he has won, Dates and Locations for classes he expects to be teaching,
and a page for purchasing roughouts.
